We have started work on slicking out the firewall. After the welding is completed we will grind all the welds down and fix any other spots that need it. We had to make patch panels on both sides due to excessive rust and corrosion. After all the grinding was finished a little filler was added to help smooth the firewall. Both patch panels were ground down and filled. The firewall has had a light coat of primer applied. It will be sanded down and re-primed to ensure that it is completely smooth and all spots are covered. You can see how straight the firewall is and it has not had its final touches. The front end sheetmetal is reinstalled. How's that for straight? We're starting the mechanical build of the car. Check out the bitchin' Corvette C4 independant rear suspension installed in the vehicle. As with any custom this wild, problems arise right away. The fuel tank braces will locate the fuel tank right into the IRS. While we're solving problems, we notice that the pinion support someone had welded to the crossmember was not going to be very strong, so we've lowered the suspension to make changes. We've whittled up a brace to box the pinion support. The brace is welded in, both to the bracket and the frame. It will now be plenty strong. Go to page PREVIOUS 1 2 3 4 NEXT PAGE |
