The car is finally put back together A rear view of the body and frame together. If the topside looks half as good as the bottom, this will be one great car! The mock up of the cluster begins. A couple of hours later and the mock up of the dash is complete. You can see the holes that were cut for the A/C vent and controls. A lower escutcheon is cut from our dash board, allowing serviceability to the steering column. A wonderful eBay score. Described: LOW RUST 1968 GTO deck lid. Actual: lower edge of rusted off of 1968 GTO deck lid. A small amount of metal work was required to make this deck lid cherry again, but after some cutting and welding, the decklid returns to the right shape. After some more welding and grinding, it's as good as new again! Front sheetmetal has been hung. Don't worry, the reproduction pieces didn't fit at all. Extensive metal work has transpired to get the car to this point. We won't rest until all the pieces are right and gaps are true. The metal work is now finished and the first round of blocking has taken place. The car is now disassembled again for the final blocking stages and to be painted in pieces.
